MENTORING THE NEXT GENERATION

Uniting coastal communities across generations through grassroots surf competition, youth mentorship, and community leadership.

Passing the Torch from Legends to Groms

At U.S. Board Riders Clubs, we build more than contest heat sheets—we build multi-generational support networks. Our tag-team competition format brings 14-and-under groms into the same contest tent as 50+ ocean veterans and former touring pros.

On the beach and in the water, older athletes mentor youth competitors in line-up strategy, sportsmanship, local ocean knowledge, and community leadership. This cross-generational bond ensures that coastal traditions, ocean respect, and town pride are passed directly to the next generation.

Building Leaders On and Off the Sand

Our grassroots club structure gives young surfers a structured path to grow as athletes and citizens:

  • Team Sportsmanship & Accountability: Groms learn what it means to surf for a city team rather than individual accolades.

  • Youth Roster Equity: Ensuring kids from all financial backgrounds get access to sanctioned competition, team coaching, and regional event travel.

  • Youth Leadership Roles: Senior club members guide junior team captains in event organization, beach stewardship, and public speaking.

Fueling Local Youth Programs

Every contribution to U.S. Board Riders Clubs (501c3) directly funds local youth initiatives across our coastal divisions:

  • Entry Fee & Travel Grants: Removing financial barriers for young surfers competing in regional and national championship events.

  • Equipment Access: Providing local clubs with team jerseys, contest gear, and training resources.

  • Educational Workshops: Supporting youth ocean safety, water literacy, and athlete conditioning clinics.
